Has anyone checked one on an airplane? I think I did so years ago but curious if anyone else has any experiences or tips. Don't mind the weight or carrying it around, just don't want it to pop open and dump contents. probably going to throw a luggage strap on it. made sure to use ones with the flush handles vs the handle that sticks out and could maybe shear off.
My dad still travels with his old Samsonite. It's the one without wheels and has a chrome coloured-trim and double lever-style push tabs. He uses a luggage strap and checks it. Supposedly the levers are very repairable by any luggage shop. He snowbirds every year from N.America to Asia, and around Asia for golf with his buddies. I've bought him a few new Samsonites with spinner wheels but the airlines keep on destroying the spinner wheels and the corners so he just keeps on using his old Samsonite.
