Mixed Experiences
I have had mixed experience of SQ staff over the past few weeks, on a flight in J class from Melbourne to London via Sin I was joined by my cousin travelling in Y class. As a *G /Krisflyer Gold member I believe I am allowed to take a guest into the SQ lounges (except the Silver Kris in SIN, which more later!), upon arriving at the lounge in Mel I was told I could not bring my cousin in as I was travelling in J, apparently if I was in Y then we could both go in! Ludicrous and I believe incorrect, we managed to point this out to the agent who felt she was doing us a favour by letting us in.
Upon arrival in Singapore I thought I would try to get us both into the lounge (me still in J and cousin in Y for onwards to LHR), the SQ agents on the door allowed us both in with a smile and a warm welcome, no questions asked despite being contrary to rules.
This morning I decided to take a short break in Antigua in 2 weeks time and phoned SIN to book mileage redemption flights on Virgin Atlantic in either Upper Class or Premium Economy, my call was answered promptly and the seats confirmed within a couple of minutes, surprising given there is only 2 weeks until the flight leaves.
All in all a mixed bag of service, some good, some bad and some surprising! I do wonder if I tried to book a redemption ticket to Singapore with SQ in two weeks time if they would have any availability!
