Help with who’s responsible [when flight in multi-carrier itinerary is cancelled]

Hey,

Travelling today 2pax in biz

we have a bud>lhr>ewr>phx>psp ticket booked with AA.

bud>lhr is with BA
lhr>ewr is with BA

rest AA fligths

BA cancelled todays bud>lhr this morning and we have been rebooked Bud>fra>jfk with Lufthansa - but upon checking in we were told our fra>jfk is standby and it’s looking likely the flight will remain full.

we have had zero comms about this - no text or email and had we known would def NOT accept standby.

can someone tell me who is responsible for solving this if we are offloaded in Frankfurt?
AA as ticket issuers
BA as original operator (presumably it was they who rebooked us as the ticket is 125 stock)
or lufthansa who are the “new carrier”

we continue our journey tomorrow morning at 6:34am EWR>PHX>PSP but clearly if we don’t get on the fra>jfk flight we won’t make tomorrow morning.
thanks in advance
