Good:

Add JFK T4E (during peak hours) as a shoe friendly. Peak hours = KLM, Air Lingus evening departures. One of the best TSA checkpoints I've dealt with and lines move FAST despite wrapping around multiple times. TSA agents can get assertive, but the assertiveness is necessary to get everyone through.

At JFK T4E they can get picky during slow hours, which is the downside. JFK T4E is NW, KL, & Air Lingus. Air India also operates here, but I've never been around when it has departed.

Add JFK T3 to the list as shoe friendly; this is the DL international terminal at JFK. I have never been deshoed here either with many trips through. Security is sometimes disorganized or understaffed, but even when full staffed, no shoe removal.

MSP = good, especially US Customs checkpoint
CLE = good in my one experience since "changes"

Bad: (some already noted)

SDF = bad shoe carnival airport
LEX = bad shoe carnival airport
DCA NW gates = shoe carnival
DTW US Customs Re-Entry = Shoe Carnival / often unfriendly & difficult
** I always "Exit to Detroit" and re-enter on level one.

TPA = long lines for A concourse (NW/CO and er, WN, eek). TPA has a GE EnrtyScan (or did in December) for the Selectee Lane. I view this as a positive, but shoe policies have been inconsistent.

Overseas good:

MEL ** (note: if hand luggage is "large", be sure to get a FC tag or an airline override saying your carry-on is ok).
SYD
LGW/LHR/LCY
AMS
DXB
KUL
BCN
MAD
BUD
FCO -- lines can get long

Hope this helps; Most overseas airports seem to be good and a few which do require shoe removal give you slippers to put on (can't recall if it was NRT or SIN). German airports have been more strict than others in the EU, especially schengen EU.

Also Note: Many overseas airports are good, but if flying to the USA on a US metal carrier, *airline security* may have you remove footware during their check. If on non-US metal of flying elsewhere, no problems.
