This will probably tempt United to make another attempt to do the same and put non 016 tickets on earning parity.
I assume when you'd credit a non-016 ticket to UA, UA would get all of the fare details from the ticket carrier. How else would they know how much to credit on a non-016 ticket with UA segments?
