Thanks for that Restless ^ ; We are indeed talking about the Sri Veerama Kaliamman Temple on 141 Serangoon Road. Although a gwailo myself, this is one of the main Hindu temples in Singapore IIRC. The other main ones are the Sri Thendayuthapani Temple on Tank Road (quiet and a very good one for tourists to visit, close to the Mohammed Sultan nightlife district) and the Sri Mariamman Temple on South Bridge Road, very busy with tourists and a very good location, but there are many more.....
For religion buffs Singapore offers an impressive array of places of worship. The main Sultan mosque on Muscat street in Kampong Glam. The synagogue on Oxley Rise (very close to Tank Street), the central Sikh temple on 731 Serangoon Road (this is quite far down) and to many Christian churches and Buddhist and Taoist temples to mention (some are covered in the walk).
