Finally !
According to TripAdvisor, renovations have begun.
The hotel was constructed in 1995

I could find the new renderings for the
2020 delayed through covid19 and Park Hyatt Jakarta priority
2023 renovations on

For those of us that cannot get access,
I'll post the renderings of the new look of Hyatt Regency Yogjakarta in the proper sequence
To start with reception
Reception gets a new wider counter, new lobby furniture seating , flooring stays the same
Onwards to the hotel's main restaurant: Kemangi Bistro on the lower ground floor
Complete overhaul of the kitchen, display counter :
happy to see that they keep the Kala oven: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kāla :
In Javanese culture Kala is allocated as door guardian and ornament from classical Javanese history
Also Kemangi Bistro restaurant seems to keep its floor design
And now to the most interesting and much needed room renovations
So what do we see that's going to be changed.....
Room type: " luxury room"
It seems a lot is going to be changed, a remarkable transformation indeed !
Besides completely new furniture / fixtures / floors, a new layout with open look bathroom (fortunately with ability to close via a privacy screen!)
And for those of us commited to suites, a look at
Suite catagory : "executive suite " designated by Hyatt as a premium suite
Also indeed here an astonishing transformation!
New floor, better use of space and area functionality, new look furniture
Pretty remarkable
I'm planning a 2024/2025 visit so hopefully i can share some experiences by then
So let the speculation begin ......
Hyatt Regency Yogjakarta was a catagory 1 hotel for a long time.......
With this renovations done, can we presume it jumps up several cat?
Will it keep its familiar Hyatt Regency brand?
or move to a different Hyatt brand : JdV, Unbound, Thompson, Destination by Hyatt, Grand Hyatt to fetch an even higher catagory ?
The current owner of Hyatt Regency Yogjakarta also owns Park Hyatt Jakarta, Andaz Bali and others,
so he has the possibility to add more diverse Hyatt brands to enhance his portofolio....
