I booked 7 (now 5) nights at the Hilton AI, but I got cold feet after reading reviews, e.g., tripadvisor https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...Peninsula.html. I don't put weight on complaints about food quality, that's so subjective (and we're not foodies). But I was struck by a few things:
(a) poor / spotty housekeeping,
(b) slow or nonresponse from the front desk etc. regarding any issues that arise
(c) limited food availability, i.e., limited restaurants being open, limited hours, long lines, etc.
That last one was what sort of pushed me over the edge. We won't drink enough to make an AI worthwhile unless we can enjoy a decent food experience, it sounds like we'd have to plan carefully just to be able to eat.

The Conrad next door had reward nights available, too - so now I have 5 nights booked there as well. We're not really fancy hotel people, but at least our kids are old enough to watch out for Things That Break... I was struck that the reviews of the Conrad are almost invariably glowing. (I was also struck by strong reviews of the breakfast!) It does seem like Diamond status would be more useful at the Conrad, and we should get a couple meals from our $250 Aspire credits (plus the $50/day). So the plan is to cancel (2 months in advance!) at the Hilton AI, and go with the Conrad.

Are we making a mistake? Thanks for any input.
