A few years ago, I gave up on expecting anything from Delta as to status and just started paying first class for every flight and choosing other airlines where it made more sense. Even though I’m a 2MM on Delta and could conceivably hit the dollar requirements in the coming year, I have no plans to change this approach. I still like Delta very much. They are operationally strong and I find they usually have decent if not great service. My approach means every trip results in me getting to where I want to go in the most comfortable way available. I realize this approach won’t work for everyone but if it works for you I suggest you try it.
