I hate to break to it everyone in this thread saying that DL needs to cull their low-value customers, but longstanding airline economics are clear that on a per-flight basis, most customers lose the airline money. It's the incremental last few fares that make the flight profitable.

However, those incremental last few fares are not enough to make the flight profitable on its own.
