In my case in the early 1990's so no cellphone or camera, flying from Miami to Great Exuma. A scheduled carrier, 6 or 7 seats, only two passengers and the pilot allowed me to ride shotgun and maneuver the plane. I actually never asked the other passenger how they felt about my holding the controls. Apologies, but I do not recall the carrier.
As for a private plane, a four seater, it was in the early 1980's flying out from Sante Fe to Phoenix.
Finally sometime in 2016, an early storm snowstorm, flying from Ottowa to Newark on UA (everything else, i.e. AC had cancelled), was truly unique, the plane was not that small, cerca 40 seats. However, due to the turbulence expected and the winds, prior to boarding we were told that the crew would assign our seats to balance the craft (there were not many of us) and that, oh yes, we would not be allowed to use the toilets, so best if we made an extra visit prior to take off.
