June 09, 2023: Initial Nexus Application submitted again after my GE fully renews without interview
August 25, 2023: Nexus conditional approval received
September 12, 2023: Completed interview at the Detroit (Ambassador Bridge) enrollment center. Approval notification came about 2 hours later.
Very quick interview at the Detroit Enrollment center with the most laidback CBP officers I've ever met and effectively no interview from the CBSA officer (which I found surprising), who just explained the terms and conditions of using Nexus to enter Canada.
They just needed my passport and driver license and didn't ask for any documents to confirm my current address since my DL address isn't updated. They did take a new photo and scan fingerprints again.
If you're flying to DTW or even have a multi-hour layover there, it's very quick and easy to reach the enrollment center from the airport. Just take I-94 East to I-96 and follow the "Bridge to Canada" signs; stay left whenever possible so you don't miss the turn to enter the cargo facility/enrollment center, or you will be going to Canada. Then when exiting you're mixed in with the truck traffic and get right on to I-96 or I-75.
However, now GE has disappeared from my TTP Dashboard, so I suppose my GE card is no longer valid for re-entering the US next week and I won't be home to receive the Nexus card.
