But the separate CX ticket from HKG-CEB will include HK airport taxes. You can reclaim those if your transit is on the same calendar day (not if it's overnight), but the easy way to do that involves going landside.
From the AA forum, they will not even combine their own tickets, so that doesn't seem to be an option.
Transit is on same calendar day.
