All you have to do is show your Virgin Atlantic status card and you will have the relevant perks provided, if they are incorrectly withheld due to incorrect inference of your status from the boarding pass.
If tried this a few times in outstations with not much luck as well as KLM lounge at Schipol. Any instances of success on gaining lounge access via status card?
