I have no personal experience with the benefit, so hopefully someone in a similar situation can comment, but my understanding is that if you invoke the Return Protection warranty, you have to return the item to Chase's contractor at your expense for the shipping, rather than returning it to the retailer. And the limit is $500 per item.
So I think the cost comparison would be $45 and a trip to Best Buy vs. paperwork for Chase, dropping it off at a shipping point, and paying for the shipping.
