If my experience is the past still holds true, unless you're DM don't expect any better "recognition" as GO. I was DM for 20 years, then dropped to GO for a couple of years and it was complete night and day (and made me realized since I'm paying full-C anyway, might as well prioritize efficiency over brand loyalty.) I double checked CX status benefits on CX and the only new benefit GO has over SL is extra-checked bag. So I guess if you travel with 3 checked-bags regularly it's good to have, if not, why?
Thanks for this input, I am far from hitting DM I think any time soon. Yeah the extra bag isn't really that useful, but mainly entry into other OW lounges will be interesting, and since this year I'm flying relatively often (at least for me) for the first time since starting work, I want to chase GO as I've been SL for many years now. First world problems eh.
