I caveat my answer by saying I realise it is easy to say this when it’s not your own money, but yes I would go with golfmad and say book it and pursue BA afternwards if they try to refuse - through MCOL if necessary. They can’t cock this all up and then try and absolve themselves of sorting the mess. You have given them ample opportunity to do so.
