This is completely normal. Do a search for just about any hub to hub flight and you will get connecting cities all over the place. This is especially true for ex-IAH flights which offers connecting points in the middle of the country all the way to the east coast for most flights going to ORD/EWR/IAD. Most popular seem to be CLE/CMH/CLT/RDU/MCO/MSY with many others thrown in as well.
