Yes, cash fares (w/PWM) is definitely going to be a better choice here by quite a bit if you don't want to reposition. BE/Main fares out of MIA start at $1296/$1466 roundtrip for mid-week departures. FLL is $135 cheaper at $1161/$1331 roundtrip (below). Too soon to be booking into August as booking window has just opened and they haven't really released any bucket inventory in lower fare classes yet. AA has BE/Main cash fares from $871/$1041 roundtrip out of both MIA and FLL.
