You've already committed to paying the annual fee for the year and you're not getting that back. The best path is to try and get as much value as you can out of the card for now and then next year when the 2nd annual fee hits make a keep/downgrade/cancel decision.
I got this card a few months ago for my spouse. The 25 night credits will get her over platinum status for her 9th year (2023). I will most likely cancel the card on renewal, as I don't believe M will claw back the 25 nights next year if I don't renew the card. After that, she's at LT platinum.
