As another data point, we had the typical Globalist stay here yesterday: stayed on points, upgrade to "atrium" junior suite on the 9th floor, fully comped breakfast even though we ordered a bit over our limit. Valet was free and a bargain in the city. This remains our favorite points hotel in NY, despite the gripes above.
Yea, I've read through this thread... going in with zero expectations of any upgrade as a Globalist, and if I get something, great, and if not, no big deal. I may end up using a SUA as I have a few and this is 4 nights so may be worth to burn one.
