She was originally (all purchased on one ticket) on BA15 to SYD, and then BA7425 to WLG, but because of a delay inbound, she was moved to QF82 to SYD.
Some reason both the check-in and transfer desk in Changi only checked her bags thru to Sydney and told her she needs to grab her bags and get a new boarding pass in Sydney.
Can she do this airside, or does she have to clear immigration and go thru again? just a bit worried since her original stopover went from 3.5hrs down to 2hrs and she's a bit slow.
Very poor and strange advice at SIN. With 1 ticket bags should have been interlined. Does she have a visa/passport to formally enter AU?
At SYD the procedure is
- immigration (kiosk or at a desk)
- collect bags
- custom/bio security check (this can be slow)
- exit the air side area to land side (i.e. in Australia)
Then upstairs
- check in/boarding pass and bag drop
- security (can be slow)
- emigration (kiosk or at a desk)
- walk (run?) to the gate
Not aware of any way to get bags and check-in/boarding pass bag drop air side.
In Australia international arrivals and international departures are physically separate. Is a transit door/security, before immigration, for those doing an international to international transit.
A land side transfer of 2:00hr may be hard. Depend on luck.
