Hi folks, sorry for the ultra-noob question (I did look for a flame-free newbie thread but in absence thought here was better than a new thread)...I'm looking to fly either AF or KLM for the first time in a few months and would appreciate any guidance/opinions.
I need to get from Edinburgh to Bucharest and there are two good options at roughly the same time and same cost (~175 Euro).
KLM: EDI-OTP via AMS depart 5.25pm, arrive 12.35am (1hr connection) for NZ$318
AF: EDI-OTP via CDG depart 5.05pm, arrive 12.55am (1hr 5min connection) for NZ$319
KLM aircraft are both 737 (76cm pitch) and AF aircraft are A319 (74cm pitch) and A220 (76cm pitch, with 2-3 seat layout).
I fly pretty exclusively with *A airlines, but do have Asante Rewards Gold status (ST Elite Plus) from a recent status match, which from what I've read will give me lounge access and a free checked bag (a must - I'm in Europe for about six weeks) on even the cheapest fares.
I'll try to switch my frequent flyer number to my DL account after entering the lounge to avoid orphan miles, but I'm keen to know if there's a general view on which service would be a better option. Given they're the same price and roughly the same times I guess I'm wondering if one has better service/lounge than the other. I see AF has some new non-Schengen lounges, but KLM's Crown lounge looks fine too. All things being entirely equal I'd probably opt for KLM (less time in the air, earlier arrival) even though AF would probably give a couple more points with DL.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
