SE gives free wifi, if you select that benefit, as I do. It gives two class upgrades, "if available", if you're mostly buying J and therefore always have expiring eUpgrades.
SS access seems to be suggested from people who are proposing things like "I'm a cheap flyer and therefore don't have access".
If you're choosing eUps as your select benefit (instead of wifi, and precluding you from the SS), I just don't think you'd be their target for a higher level.
In terms of *A status, Mark Schwab (former CEO of *A) once responded to my question of "what benefit do I get from staying loyal to *A if I only buy J?", and there were two answers:
1. If you earn *G not through united, you get UC access on domestic itineraries
2. We don't think we could consistently offer much throughout the network beyond what we give to *G
And TBH, I agree(d) with him.
This is FT. I appreciate wanting something in exchange for nothing. But it's not hard to look at what the airline or alliance has and wants, and figure out what they could offer.
The most plausible enhancement I could request is a new *A tier that has higher wait-list/standby priority than any native *G. Beyond that, I don't think the alliance could offer much.
If an airline isn't doing complimentary upgrades for their own HON Circle members, there's no way they're going to do it for an AC elite.
