We booked a week’s stay at a FH&R property through Amex travel. In trying to decide if we need to buy travel insurance, I’m conflicted over the wording of the cancellation policy.

There is no charge for cancellations made before 15:00 (property local time) on October 17, 2023.Cancellations or changes made after 15:00 (property local time) on October 17, 2023 or no-shows are subject to a property fee equal to 100% of the total amount paid for the reservation.

Since we did not choose the prepay option and will pay at the hotel, if we have to cancel after Oct 17 (10:days before arrival) can they charge us the entire weeks’s stay? The wordsmith in me says the word “paid” gives us an out since we will not have paid anything. Yet the skeptic in me says hmm. Maybe.

We have no intention of cancelling, but you know $#*t happens.
