I would never recommend to someone that they fly AC J with all prices being equal (and now they seem to be within 1k). Sure this is biased because I mostly fly from YVR to Asia, but I don't see how AC can benefit from making their experience better. I think AC is happy where they are and won't make any changes outside of what they already offer. If you're SE with AC now, you probably have no other options, especially if you aren't in a hub.
That's my point. If you're buying J from YVR, you have a ton of options to Asia, and at least AC/LH/BA to Europe.
Sure, if you're depending on upgrades, then sticking with one airline that can get you everywhere might make more sense. But if you're spending $50k+ and not sitting in J all the time, you should have a chat with your TA
