Meals from the cart or the multi-course service

I flew a CO transcon last night in paid first (albeit a Z fare, $195 rt LAX-MCI). The plane was a 737-8/900 (whichever has the winglets). I guess this is CO's transcon first class meal -- a menu (printed on the bottom as EWR-LAX/PDX/SAN/SEA/SFO so I guess it is the same for all EWR-West Coast transcons) -- and a multi-course meal, warm nuts with drinks, then an appetizer (shrimp and crab cocktail), salad, and four choices of entree -- steak, duck, salmon, and vegetarian pasta, followed by an ice cream sundae.

It was okay, but was served a course at a time. I know this is an occasional topic of discussion on the CO board (and maybe the NW board as well), about how nice this style of service is compared to NW's tray from the cart, but I must admit, I much prefer the tray from the cart. The CO service, one FA servimg, there may have been a second in the galley, took about 90 minutes to serve 14 passengers and we were stuck in our seats the whole time. Ugh! I'd much prefer serving the whole meal, let me eat at my pace and then clear the dishes so I can get on to other things.

The meal was okay, but definitely not fine dining -- I don't fly for fine dining, well maybe when I get there.
