Most hotels in Marrakech are fine, including FS, MO & Jena. Just minor damage, if anything. Think Medina and especially older buildings there are most affected by the quake, some of which have collapsed.

Olinto -- which was discussed here extensively -- is near the epicenter and could be affected. Has anyone heard back from them?

Meanwhile, PURE is scheduled to take place tomorrow onwards and Marrakech has been preparing for months for the huge IMF event in October.
It is just awful. Heartbreaking.

I am scanning the web for info on Olinto, KT, some of the truly wonderful valley towns in the Atlas that we visited, etc.
Not finding a thing.

Good to hear the big palmerai places have likely not sustained critical damage.
Have two friends currently staying at El Fenn.
They have reported themselves safe on soc med.
I wonder about some of the riads in the Medina itself.

I know many of those structures are pushed earth, quite literally 'built' during messianic times.
Pictures I'm seeing from the old city are thus (predictably) showing buildings that haven't quite 'collapsed' as much as they've utterly disintegrated. Dust.

It's a really tough thing. Hard news to hear.
