During the pandemic they found a flexibility that we were told was impossible to do before the pandemic. But the shutters came down on that fairly swiftly, and generally BA plays hard-ball on the 1 year rule. It's an IATA ticketing convention, so it should apply to all IATA airlines. I guess the argument here is that you presumably have an inflexible ticket (at least in terms of refunds) and you are not trying to making it flexible.
