I've had similar conversations with my coworkers and their responses are often similar to sydneyracquelle. "The phone agents" "the lounges" "the free tickets" etc etc.
If you live in the US, you can just use three credit cards to gain access to AA, DL, and UA lounges when needed. Those should help make IRROPS easier as well.
