Complimentary Premier upgrade (CPU) window for Silver/Gold/Platinum/1K/GS does not mean that you will receive a CPU at that specific time window. It may happen when UA knows that those remaining seats will not be sold and there are very few premier members on the upgrade standby list, which you will see at T-48h.
Y/B/M instant upgrade is a special type of CPU when PN (GS/1K; at or after purchase) or PZ (Platinum/Gold/Silver at purchase) spaces are available.
Instrument-supported upgrade is not free.
These are the nutshell of UA upgrade types.
