Ok , so in this case then ask AF desk at CDG to rebook you to late evening flight ; but then for the hotel if you dont like what they offer they wont reimburse you
As you are not on same PNR ; you might be sent to different hotels (but you can later compare and pick the best one) . However you might try to negotiate better idea (hotel/location) for staying both i same room instead of asking separately . I did it once and it worked but no guarantee it will for you.
Only scenario which might work for self payment is if you arrive in CDG very late and no one is available for help

Your hotel room will be available until mid day max , unless you have late checkout then it varies per hotel and chain , and your latest option is AF flight around 8PM
And if you want to visit paris you need to take into account the time needed to either commute/ride/drive between CDG and paris , so thats at least 3h both ways (adding 30 mins each way as safety net) , which means you wont enjoy much hotel room ,so moxxy or sheraton doesnt really make a difference
