Lindner Prague Castle REVIEW - MASTER THREAD
No thread for this hotel yet so I will start it. Stayed here for 9 nights recently. It was an absolute steal at a cat 1 (+ low season, plus 500 point new hotel, + 20% JDV award promo...when that all posts of course). The location is solid as it is close to a variety of sites on the west side of town, and is an easy enough walk (30 min or so) to old town, or a tram as the main tourist 22 tram stops right in front. Did 9 nights on award, check in was super easy...they did not even ask for my cc, which was a nice change. I hate every hotel has to get your card again, etc even though you literally input it to make the booking. If I leave without giving you the card are you just saying you won't be able to get the money I owe you? Had emailed in advance for a parking spot and they directed me to park in the garage, which is a major high stress parking scenario for anyone using a non tiny vehicle. It is an underground spot behind the building, with about 8 slots that lower and raise into the ground, so you park in a metal cage and they lower your car so they park another on top. The space is very very small and I was lucky enough for several of the days to be allowed to park outside, in the front area of the hotel. It is just a random circular loop and you have a few places to just stick a car...no real spaces or anything, just on curbs, etc. Either way it worked.
Room was fine enough as I used a DSU but did NOT receive the suite depicted in the pictures, and in fact received the King Premium with Sofa room based on pictures on website. Healthy enough space, bathroom was on the smaller side, shower was fairly low pressure but everything worked. They left a fruit plate and a little bottle of local liquor and a note. Bed was a king with 2 individual sized blankets. Nothing special about the room but for the cat 1 price, it was great other than not getting the suite I paid for. Breakfast was an excellent affair, with crepes (most days), a variety of cold cuts (large variety), several hot items like beans, bacon, potatoes, eggs, etc. A fresh OJ machine where you make your own, pastries, fruit, 4 honeys, etc. Very good, although if I had 2 complaint, was that there was no real non processed meat...tons of sausages, cold cuts etc but nothing in the fresh meat category and the coffee from the machine was not good (tons of great places though in Prague for coffee). Still a great breakfast. Staff was all helpful and friendly. Parking charge was proactively removed for the first 7 night stay and at end of 2nd stay of 2 nights, was removed at checkout without prompting. Housekeeping a little uneven like at all hotels...one day restocked water, next not, one day restock bathroom items like cotton swabs, next day not. Overall, no issues though. Gym was a tiny room with 1 treadmill, a punching bag and a combo weight machine. Did not use the sauna although it looked great.
Bottom line, it was an excellent stay with no issues, a great breakfast and good location. For the price I paid, it was probably the best redemption I have ever made with Hyatt points. Would not hesitate to stay there again if I return to Prague a third time, although now I discovered I was given the wrong room, I am less than pleased.
