The ENTIRE POINT of digital key is that I don't have to go to the front desk at all. If I have to do that, I ask for a keycard. Using the keycard once you're at your door is easier than using your phone - it was the ability to go directly to your room that made pulling our your phone, opening the app, and waiting for it to sync with your door worth it.
Hilton had this working years ago. Marriott has NEVER had it working for me, even though I always select a digital key in their app. Frustrating to hear that some Hiltons are going backwards in time on this.
