Wow, that is a very risky advice. Nothing suggests that BA is refusing to rebook the OP on the next same day LHR-CPH and CPH-LHR-BOS flights. The OP is trying to take advantage of the situation by getting a full refund of the LHR-CPH flight (no issue with that) and getting BA to drop the first leg, CPH-LHR of the ex EU itinerary. Completely different situation and your advice that the OP could just purchase a new BA ticket, LHR-BOS and claim reimbursement from BA later on, is likely to fail.
