My post was simply intended to refute the statement that “[United] aren’t saying Polaris is a certain type of seat” — they actually do, on their aircraft layout page (which is the first result when you search Google for “United 787” — hardly a power user behavior). It’s not a huge leap to see how one might get confused.
I agree, UA could have done a better job years ago to not conflate Polaris service with a new seat they were installing. However, I think some people (not all) are not so much confused but instead constructing an argument to express their displeasure.
And what percent of the flying public are really confused by this?
