it will probably stick, but any aircraft change or similar after your status expires you could kick you out the seat and you would then not be able to select a new seat for free

It isn’t a case of linking your other OW account to your BAEC, just add the details of your other OW account to the booking you have on BA, via Manage my Booking.

if seat has been assigned for free thanks to an expired status, we’ve had both reports by people who kept the assignment without issue and of people who’ve lost it at any random time up to flight departure. It seems like hit and miss.

Makes sense, to change my FF details from BAEC details to AS - I didn't understand correctly initially but now makes sense.
Shame it's hit and miss - I guess best thing to do is just give it a go as there's nothing to lose!
