I collected a bunch of awards through UpTrip. A few points to keep in mind:
1) HON miles cannot be credited. So, if you are HON and want "status" miles", the system will utilize your cards but in M&M statement, it will show as blank earning. UpTrip support team is aware of this. They did release back the used cards though
2) Some cities were not in their database (has this with PRN, SKP and LYS). So the system would not generate cards. Support team had to intervene manually. At the end, they added these three cities but also acknowledged that if the card is not generated, it may be that the city is not in the database.
3) There are some "special" edition cards (I had it for FRA-EZE but it would not show the same for EZE-FRA) but I am not sure what their purpose is.
4) This works only for flights, booked under the code of and operated by LH, OS, LX, WK, EW, 4Y, SN and EW only. If it is LH flight booked under UA code, the system would not issue the card. But if you scan the boarding pass that is issued by LH (for LH flight booked under UA), it may work though not always.
5) Cards can be scanned for flights that depart up to 1 day before and 2 days after. For OS flights it means that if you check in 47 hrs before, you should wait for 24 hrs before the departure of your flight to scan. Anything scanned later than 48 hours after the departure will be treated as "historic" card and one has only two opportunities to do this within 6 months period and for cards that are 6 or less months old.
6) If you scan the card and do not take the flight, the card remains valid.
Sadly they seem to have fixed 5) and 6)
Why can't LH IT concentrate on fixing things that are broken and bad for customers?
