Thanks for your report, enlightening and confirming the issues with this hotel. Unfortunately, the nice places around Amalfi or on Capri go for like 1k Euro and up, no kidding (not talking AirBnB or such). Hence, the Hilton has a certain spot carved out as a place with still somewhat reasonable access from Sorrento to the actual Amalfi coast towns. As you said, now with the latest pricing it is just seems not worth it.

Unfortunately, the entire area is overrun by tourists (again) and the hotels and restaurants and all don't need to do much to make crazy amounts of money all around and it shows. YMMV.
