We had a one night stay here last week and I agree with others - it's a terrific property with great Globalist benefits. Approx 20% of the rooms are suites, so that makes the upgrade chances good. We booked a Prive rate - obviously Prive and FHR benefits duplicate Globalist benefits, but if you're paying cash, definitely go through one of those programs to get your credit toward parking ($64 with tax!) or dinner at Landrace. At 20k points, we'd rather pay cash although the parking charge makes it painful.
We loved the location. We took a morning walk to the more touristy area of the Riverwalk; it was still nice and cool and shady. Just took us 15 minutes to get there. Then after a late breakfast we walked the other direction, toward the Pearl District, for a visit to the San Antonio Art Museum. Again it was about a 15 minute walk, and although the temp was in the 90s already we didn't break a sweat because the walk is mostly shaded.
We were offered late checkout and asked for 4PM and they didn't blink.
I think the room we had was the Thompson Suite - it was really nice and spacious and had a small balcony with one chair. If offered this room again, we wouldn't turn it down, although we might say "we loved our stay in that suite last time but were hoping for one of the floor-to-ceiling view suites" because the windows in this one were pretty small.
I need to figure out parking if we stay again (which we probably will) - the hotel is surrounded by surface parking lots and one of them within a block has to be a good deal for overnight parking.
