In the real world, travel insurance is more than lost luggage - it covers medical and health, and frankly delayed luggage cover is a side benefit of such policy. I would not want to go anywhere without medical cover!

Threatening to sue people left, right and centre at the outset is usually not a great strategy, but… You got your coffee money back by throwing a tantrum. Congratulations. Now off you go back to your US airlines who will obviously treat you better
