I haven’t been to LAS, but other multi-airline (home screen, pick an airline, brings up their software) kiosks I’ve seen have had working passport scanners. But you don’t actually necessarily need a kiosk scan to get DOCS OK - if you check in using the app, that should do it. You might specifically need to scan your passport rather than typing in the information (there should be a camera icon at the point where it asks you for the details, tap that), I’m not positive. Also, when you scan your passport during check in, whether in-app or on a kiosk, you’ll be offered the opportunity to save it to your SkyMiles profile, which will verify it and allow future check ins without having to rescan it.
