The linked thread/situation has few details and based on those few details (and other posts on that thread and other threads) it’s likely that there are many others who have “churned” a greater number of "the same card" without adverse affects.
I've been fortunate to get 2 each of CIC and CIU. Same business, same amounts.

Too many gimmicks with online shopping offers.
Ran into a Chase Banker last week at a retail store asked him when will Chase stop the churning of CC's. Answer "Chase's only cares that you can pay the bill".
Although it's not an accurate summary of everyone but Chasedoes seem very friendly just need to space out the application process.
