I've had it work in a lot of hotels. I've also had it not work in a lot of hotels.

It's frustrating, for sure, but I just keep my hard cards, and don't even bother with mobile key. I'll look at the beginning of a stay to see if it's available in an emergency, but if not, I just move on and don't waste any time with the front desk over it.
