I really wanted to love the Park Hyatt Vienna, but in the end, I think I'll have to put it in the "like" category. For a relatively modern renovation, there are some decisions made in the rooms that just baffle me. Regardless, I do see the positive service attitudes reported by others on this thread. Here are my pros, cons, and photos:

Pros:
  • Reached out to before my stay by Caroline who escorted me to my room and prepared a nice welcome treat for me
  • Based on the fact that my Hyatt app showed me as checked in at 7 AM, my room was ready early and was ready when I arrived at Noon
  • Upgraded from a base room on points to a Park Suite on the 5th floor - this showed up the day before arrival
  • The suite design is very pleasant and aesthetically pleasing, especially the light wood tones
  • The bathroom was great with large shower that had great pressure
  • Massive closet with lots of storage space
  • Nice chocolate bar and fruit waiting in the room
  • Caroline had me go down to the cafe at my leisure for a free slice of their take on Sacher Torte - after I told her I had a sweet tooth - tasty and a great gesture
  • They told me I would be getting 4 PM checkout
  • Nice common spaces, including the glass elevator, and one of the meeting rooms I found while I was looking for a WC
  • Breakfast was generally quite good
    • Eggs, bacon, and croissants on the buffet were very good
    • Tasty cheese omelet from the menu
    • Enjoyed the cinnamon pull apart muffins with vanilla sauce
Neutral:
  • The bed is not my favorite - the mattress is pretty firm, the pillows are nice but soft and feathery and not very big, covers were decent (especially with poor climate control) - to me, this doesn't feel like a plush bed that 5-stars should have - I vastly preferred the bed at the Le Meridien Vienna, which is a much cheaper property
Cons:
  • The AC is just not good - I had it set to max fan and 18 - the bedroom vent does not seem to blow - sweating is not my idea of luxury
  • Two of the windows were missing blind shutters - they should have been there
  • The furniture seems focused on design vs comfort and functionality - plenty of room for a real couch, but instead they have one curved lounger with no place to lay
  • Pancakes at breakfast were bad - very moist on the bottom - seems like they were microwaved or reheated
  • Staff at breakfast seems to have lost my omelet and pancake order - had to remind them after 10 minutes - they thought I had already received them
  • Coffee at breakfast tasted like it came out of a machine - like the Marriott...
Overall, I am not sure this property is worth the price premium.
