Great report, thank you! This is a very good description of trail conditions for future reference.

We did Subashiri as a day hike last week. Great weather with mostly sunny and warm conditions. Also did the Ohachi Meguri crater loop at the top. Took us 10h total including stops for rest, food, and drink, as well as dodging a bulldozer or two. Finished in time to return to our ryokan/hotel and get some curry rice, take a picture of Mt. Fuji in late afternoon, then onsen time, then a kaiseki dinner.
