Can I use BOTH Citi/AA $125 Flt Discount and Trip Credit

I am trying to book an AA domestic flight.
I have a "$125 AA Flight Discount" received for >$20K spend in a year with my Citi AAdvantage Plat credit card,
and a $50 Trip Credit.
Is it possible to use Both?
Try1: At payment I applied the Trip Credit. BUT then "Other forms of payment" required for the "$125 AA Flight Discount" did NOT appear on the screen.
I did a Hold. It was done with original price, so without applying the $50 Trip Credit.
Questions:
1) IF I use the "$125 AA Flight Discount" 1st -- will the option for Trip Credit appear?
2) Can an agent help me to use BOTH?
