Current routing: HKG-SYD-NAN, flight is CX connecting to FJ. Ticketed via CX on a DGLOB34 fare. (I'm going via SYD as didn't want an overnight on the FJ sloping seat, this way I get a CX flight then the new A350 from FJ so all lie flat). Flying in business class for both flights and I'm a BA Gold (OWE), along with the plus one who shares the same status. The stopover in SYD isn't that long, a little under 3 hours (10:50 -> 13:45).

When originally booking I naively also assumed that I would have access to the Qantas First class lounge (after all, its a One World ticket, on two "oneworld" airlines due to my BA status). There is also the top level quote of "Indulge yourself before departure when travelling on a oneworld connect journey involving Fiji Airways and a oneworld sponsor, either British Airways, Cathay Pacific or Qantas." and I'm ticking two of those boxes (BA status, flying with CX first). However, as far as I can work out from this website doing a more detailed look a few weeks before the flight (https://www.oneworld.com/members/fiji-airways), even though BA is a sponsoring member the lounge access perk is limited to NAN and SIN. Whereas Qantas frequent fliers would offer lounge access in SYD (Not sure if they would honour the First lounge, but presumably so).

I see from the Fiji airlines website that they use the Qantas business lounge in SYD anyway, so it isn't like I am going to be suffering that much (obviously would prefer First if possible, as we'd have lunch here), but was kind of curious if that means an upgrade to the QF First lounge may work. Alternatively, I see BA's "the house" concept, which I haven't tried, is also in SYD and is open about the times I am there. I am presuming I wouldn't get access, but again curious without a cross-airport wander trying my luck on.

Any thoughts welcome?

PS: Yes in hindsight I should have tried to book the QF codeshare for the FJ flight as it seems I could then get into the QF F lounge, however at the time it didn't seem that important (not even sure if it was available, and an F lounge for a couple of hours isn't worth a USD125 change fee (x2). And I would still prefer the FJ A350 over a QF 737.
I did LAX-NAN-SYD return in business on an FJ ticket last spring, as BA Gold. In SYD I only had access to the Qantas business lounge, not first. The NAN lounge is pretty nice, though it’s underground, so no views. Hope that helps.
