I would be surprised if a car-rental company had an easily-removable transponder attached to a windshield. But if your rental car, in fact, has one, I don't see any reason why you could not remove it, affix your transponder for the course of your rental, and then re-affix the rental company's transponder at return. If you anticipate that that is a possibility, be sure to bring along a "read prevention" bag, place the rental company's transponder in it, and place it in the glove compartment or center console for the length of your rental. You can request a free read-prevention bag from the E-Z Pass Service Center when you request the mounting strips.
