You can just order a (free) supply of Velcro mounting strips from the NY E-Z Pass Service Center, by phone or online, and use them to mount your transponder on the windshield of your rental. That's what I do. Just be sure to remove the transponder at the end of your rental!
So I think I might be mixing things up. Last year I rented with Alamo for some reason and they had a transponder stuck directly to the windshield. Does Hertz still use the little box that you can rotate open or closed? If the transponder is stuck to the window can I remove the Hertz provided one and use my own then stick it back on afterwords?
